For a while now NS Poly have had a group on Facebook where we put up photographs of events and it also gives members somewhere to talk to each other (often about relatively prosaic things like who needs a lift to a race, or whether anyone knows what the training session is that evening). Take a look here

The following was sent to Heaton Harriers runners, this offer has also been extended to members of NSPoly. If any of you are interested in taking part please contact Tommy Brannon by email here .
Biomechanics screening for runners/cyclists
Please spend a few minutes reading the following and thinking about it.
David Nicholls a qualified and registered podiatrist is interested in doing some biomechanical screening for Heaton Harriers members. David has been treating Jo for over 10 years now and more recently Helen and Dan have also benefited from his advice. David’s interests would be collection of data for scientific research purpose but also to help you runners into finding the possible reason of your running related and recurring problems. He would also look at long term issues if juniors were willing to participate especially those focusing on track and field events as they could be followed through growth and development of their body. For a small fee, David would perform Video Gait analysis and RScan pressure plate analysis on any member.
As David is now mainly based in Hathersage, we require to organise a local venue (to be arranged) so that equipment can be setup for let’s say an afternoon (likely Saturdays). I urged anyone who has been suffering in their running for some considerable time due to injury and niggles to take this as an excellent opportunity to understand their running style. We also hope that once the setup is pioneered with Heaton Harriers we can extend it to the North of Tyne Athletics Network which in return would search for funding to develop a centre and provide financial support for treatment for us members.
In order for this to be viable we need more than a couple of runners to take part. The session would be run in small groups of 5 athletes so as to be more efficient. What I require from you is whether you would be interested in taking part or not and if you could put forwards a few suitable dates in May and June.
As I mention a small fee is necessary to cover the costs of equipments and analysis and £10 to £15 for the session will be required. Think about it as being only a race entrance fee (or only one third of the Great North Run fee!) at the end of which you would gain some hard evidence about your style and way of running and relation to your body mechanics.
For those that are interested the video gate analysis can also be performed on a static bike.
More details on David’s practise can be found here: http://www.footprints-healthcare.co.uk .
