Track & Field 2010

As posted on the NSP blog recently, I (John Renney) will be responsible for managing the content in this Track & Field section of the website.

Richard Baker is still the Track & Field captain, I'm here to help raise awareness in this area as the club prepares to compete in Division 3 next season.

In order to be as successful as we were this year, having gained promotion as Division 4E champions, the club would like to aim at having:

2 athletes competing in every event at all 4 league matches

6 match officals at all 4 league matches

3 of the 4 match fixtures are local, so that makes things a bit easier for us. Currently, the fixtures look like this:

Saturday 1st May 2010 – Carlisle (Not confirmed yet)
Saturday 5th June 2010 – No venue yet, but Heaton are host club
Sunday 4th July 2010 – No venue yet, but Jarrow are host club
Saturday 31st July 2010 – Whitley Bay hosted by NSP

And we are up against:

Birtley/South Shields
Border
City of York ‘B’
Heaton Harriers
Jarrow & Hebburn

In the short term I am going to provide information here on the following:

Competition - the clubs we are up against for the coming season
Event cover - a list of all track and field events showing where we need additional cover
Performance table - aiming to give you an idea of what sort of time, distance, height would get you a top 4 finish in both A and B string events and what the current standards are

There are plans for lots more things to happen in this and all other sections of the website, which is currently due for launch in April 2010.
