There were Poly athletes competing in events all over the country last weekend, 23rd-24th April (even internationally in the case of Heather Gould competing in the Playas del Pilar 10.5K and posing on the podium for winning the 3rd F50 prize).
Most high profile was the Virgin London Marathon with Michael Parkinson being captured on TV running along the embankment (it’s been posted on Poly Facebook if you’d like to see him in action) Michael’s time was a very credible 2hrs 54 minutes. Greg Penn also had a very good run but just missed out on a sub 3 hour time by an agonising 11 secs! John Sayer was third runner in for the Poly in 3 hours 35 minutes. Cheryl-Lee Hall was the only Poly woman running and posted a good time of 3 hours 41 minutes. You can look at all the Poly results via the link here-
(Courtesy of Neil Dick) 4 Poly competitors took part in The Stockton Duathlon Festival on the weekend just gone.
Jennifer Rees did the sprint race (5/20/2.5). David Quinn, Andrew Dyson and Katherine Davis did the Standard distance race (10/40/5). This was also the English National Championship race.
Well done everyone, but in particular Katherine, who enjoyed it so much she decided to stay out on the bike course for an extra lap costing her around 13 minutes in time! Lesson learnt hopefully.

And finally…Poly were also out in force at the Terry O Gara 5K race on a new course near Cobalt. Once the start had been located, the race route itself was easy to negotiate! Jason Stirland (17.53) Chris Waite (18.04) and Simon Ellis (18.41) were the first three runners in for the Poly. In the M50 category Neil Dick had a good race in 18.53, also M50 Norman De Bruin in 19.02. Clare Twaddle was first in for the Poly women, followed by Karen (Faster) Foster posting a PB of 21.06, then Alison Cummings in the W55 category with a good time of 21.05. Happiest Poly runner on Sunday was Jill Clark who had four runners come in behind her on the course, one of whom finished two minutes behind Jill.
