Coaching and Officiating

Attending a course costs money.  In most cases, funding is always available.  You will be guided through this process should you want to register for a course.

Tony Blair Sports Foundation
Level 2 Athletics Officials course
Disability Inclusion Training course

Further to a number of enquiries The Tony Blair Sports Foundation has the opportunity to hold a Level 2 Athletics Officials course and a Disability Inclusion Training course and we are particularly keen to work with clubs to recruit new members to these courses.

The Level 2 Officials course is a one day course and includes a generic module, a Health & Safety module as well as offering the choice of one of the following modules:

  • Timekeeping
  • Track
  • Field
  • Starter

It’s aimed at anyone from aged 14 and Trainee Officials will need to have officiated at a minimum of 4 meetings to qualify.  This is a great opportunity to recruit parents and young people to help out at events at your club.

The UK Disability Inclusion Training – Athletics course is a general awareness course to support clubs and coaches to include people with disabilities in athletics.  The course consists of a 3 hour theory session and a 3 hour practical session and is suitable for anyone who is involved in an athletics club and wants to know more about including disabled people in athletics.  The course is ideally designed for people who have little or no experience of working with disabled people.

The Foundation will contribute 50% towards the cost of the course for club members who commit to volunteering with their club to increase participation.  We need to have a minimum of 10 members on each course to go ahead.
