This Report comes courtesy of Leah Davison Last Saturday, 4th October two of the Poly’s youngest members took their first steps into the world of cross country running. Benjamin Maley Year 3, Ollie Davison Year 4 and the more experienced junior runner Josh Blevins, Year 5 took to the fields of Jarrow for the annual Minors cross country run organised by Jarrow and Hebburn AC. This is a free cross country open to schools, club runners and individuals. ( See Jarrow and Hebburn AC website for more information). The distance run was 1 mile for years 3 /4 and 1.25 miles for year 5 onwards. . The boys enjoyed the cross country so much they have signed up for this years’ North East Harrier league. Josh Blevins came home with silver in his age category, Ollie Davison was 14th out of a field of 55 and Benjamin Maley did a smashing job keeping up with everyone a whole year older than himself.
It’s good to see that we have some talented young athletes coming through who want to compete for the club! Noreen
