NEYDL at Monkton on 20th July

26 July, 2014 No Comments News, Results

A massive thank you to everyone who competed in the NEYDL on the 20th July at Monkton. Despite it being the start of the summer holidays we still had a healthy size team. It was great to see athletes competing for the very first time for the club and seeing familiar faces back competing again after the previous meetings.

According to the results we finished 1st overall on the day with 513 points (our second highest point score of the season) and we were 34.5 points clear of Gateshead who finished in 2nd place. This is our second match win of the season which just shows how the team is growing in strength – especially as we had some athletes missing due to holiday etc. This proves what I have always ever since I competed when I competed in this league – our athletes are talented and score high points but we’ve never had enough numbers to be competitive. However this has definitely changed over the last few years as competition is being promoted more now around all the Junior groups!
